Vicky Kaushal may only be a few years into his career as a Bollywood hero, but the actor has built an enviable filmography for himself. And, adding oodles of heart and gravitas to his repertoire is his next project, Sardar Udham. In the film directed by Shoojit Sircar, Vicky Kaushal plays the titular role of revolutionary Sardar Udham Singh. And if the teaser and trailer are anything to go by, he has poured his heart and soul into the role of a lifetime. Now, the actor has shared another still from the movie that has wowed fans and rightfully so. In the image, Vicky Kaushal is dressed as Sardar Udham Singh during the revolutionary’s imprisonment in 1931.

Sharing the picture, Vicky Kaushal also added a note of trivia. He wrote in the caption, “1931, Prison, India. Sardar Udham Singh was in prison for possession of prohibited papers “Ghadr-i-Gunj” (“Voice of Revolt ”). He was released later but under constant surveillance. Soon, he escaped to Europe and never got to return to India.”

This is not the first of the images that Vicky Kaushal has shared in the garb of Sardar Udham Singh. Previously, the actor uploaded a picture of himself, with a scar on his face. “Tell people I was a revolutionary,” the caption said. Speaking at the trailer launch of the film, Vicky Kaushal also revealed that the role was a demanding one. He said that he suffered an injury while the film was being made, due to which he had to get 13 stitches on his face. “The scar you see in the film is real,” he was quoted as saying.

For the unversed, the film traces the story of Sardar Udham Singh, the revolutionary who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer in 1940 in Westminster, London. The assassination was in retaliation to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, which occurred in 1919.

Sardar Udham will premiere worldwide on October 16 on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video. The film also stars Amol Parashar, Shaun Scott, Stephen Hogan, Banita Sandhu, Kirsty Averton in pivotal roles.
