Job description: TITLE: Assistant Director of KYSU Online Bursar and Student AccountsDEPARTMENT: Office of Distant EducationREPORTS TO: Director of Online EducationCLASSIFICATION: Staff-12 monthsEFFECTIVE DATE: TBDSTANDARD WORK HOURS: 37.5 hours per weekEMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-TimeEMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: ExemptJOB SUMMARY:The Director of KYSU Online Bursar and Student Accounts is pivotal in overseeing the financial interactions between the university and KYSU Online students. The ideal candidate will lead the Bursar’s Office in managing student accounts, billing, receivables, and financial customer service. This role entails developing and implementing policies and procedures that enhance efficiency, compliance with regulatory requirements, and support of student financial needs in an online environment.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee and manage all operations related to the Bursar’s Office, including tuition billing, payment processing, refunds, and the collection of outstanding student accounts. Implement best practices for managing student accounts receivable and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of financial services with the overall student experience.
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor Bursar’s Office staff, fostering a culture of excellence, service, and professional development.
  • Develop and manage the department’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Utilize technology to optimize financial processes, enhance student satisfaction, and provide transparent account management.
  • Serve as a key liaison with financial institutions, payment processors, and other vendors.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on the status of student accounts, receivables, and financial assistance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • At least 3-7 years of experience in higher education finance, bursar’s office operations, or a similar role, with a strong preference for experience in an online university setting. However, candidates with three or more years of experience in Finance will also be considered, even if they don’t have expertise in Bursar/Student Accounts.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage teams effectively in a remote environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations applicable to higher education.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proven ability to implement technology solutions to improve financial services and student satisfaction.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Determined by university growth, but currently none

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:OTHER DUTIES:

  • Perform other appropriate and reasonably required duties as assigned by your supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Licensing and Certifications:N/AWORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Remote work 40+ hours per week. Requires communication with students and staff to include e-mail and phone calls.
