Meet Chad Michael Murray’s actress wife, Sarah Roemer: the former model rose to fame after starring alongside Shia LaBeouf in Disturbia, but she’s content with her family life these days
Born on August 28, 1984 in sunny San Diego, California, Sarah Christine Roemer comes from a blend of German, English, Irish and Scottish ancestry, per IMDb. After school she moved to Los Angeles to begin her modelling career. By 17 she was gracing the pages of magazines like GQ, Cosmopolitan, Maxim, Esquire and Interview.
“When I was 15, before school in the morning, I was at a 7-Eleven drinking coffee, and the owner of my modelling agency came up to me,” she recounted in a 2007 interview with The Courier Mail. “And that’s how that happened.”
She was scouted at a coffee shop
When she was 20, her career took an unexpected turn in a yet another chance encounter at a coffee shop. “I was in LA two years ago modelling and I was at a coffee shop and my manager came up to me,” she explained to the same publication, “and that’s how I started acting”.
Roemer made her debut in the 2006 independent dark comedy Wristcutters, A Love Story. The following year, she starred as a high school cheerleader in the horror film The Grudge 2, which she admitted was surprising considering how much she disliked the sport during her school days. “I didn’t cheer in high school. I was the farthest thing from a cheerleader in high school. We made fun of cheerleaders. Everybody did! But no more. All that choreography? I couldn’t make sense of it.”
She has a son and two daughters with Chad Michael Murray
In 2013, she appeared in the Crackle original action-thriller series Chosen, where she shared the screen with Chad Michael Murray, known for his roles in One Tree Hill and Gilmore Girls. Their whirlwind romance culminated in a secret marriage just five months after they began dating.
Murray revealed their marriage alongside news of Roemer’s pregnancy in January 2015: “I’m a romantic. I’m a family guy. I want that core,” the One Tree Hill actor told E! News. “I tend to keep everything quiet. I love my life. That’s the part I keep for myself.”
Since then, the couple has expanded their family with two daughters, maintaining a commitment to keeping their children out of the public eye. They occasionally share glimpses on social media without revealing their identities.
Murray expressed a desire to shield his kids from “being berated in school for what their parents are doing” in an interview with Numero magazine.
They’re currently based in Canada
Following Murray’s 2023 casting in Sullivan’s Crossing, a TV drama series filmed in Canada, the family of five decided to relocate there. In an interview with Parade, Murray reflected on their adjustment: “We live out of a suitcase pretty much primarily. When we came here last year, we made a really quick decision [to] get as immersed in the community as we possibly could.”
