Disney+ has revealed singer Brandy’s long-awaited return as Cinderella in the new Disney musical telemovie “Descendants: Rise of Red”.

Disney has released video from the set showcasing her return to the role alongside Paolo Montalban also back as Prince Charming – the pair now queen and king.

They took on the roles back in the 1997 telemovie “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella” alongside Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother.

The new film centers on the relationship between Red (Kylie Cantrall), the rebellious teenage daughter of the Queen of Hearts (Rita Ora), and Chloe (Mia Baker), the cheerful but naive daughter of Cinderella and Charming. The two must travel back in time to prevent the destruction of their home, the kingdom of Auradon.

The project also stars China Anne McClain as Uma, daughter of sea witch Ursula; Morgan Dudley as Ella, the younger version of Cinderella; and Melanie Paxson as the Fairy Godmother.

The project was originally announced under the working title “The Pocketwatch” last year and joins the “Descendants” franchise which has yielded multiple film hits for the studio.

“Descendants: Rise of Red” is being directed by Jennifer Phang and written by Dan Frey and Russell Sommer. No premiere date has been announced as yet.
