The official trailer has been released for the second season of the Apple TV+ musical series “Schmigadoon!” starring Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key.

The first season found a couple trapped mystical musical town that follows the rules of classic Hollywood musicals, nearly destroying their relationship in the process.

The new season sees them missing the magic they felt in Schmigadoon and in an attempt to return, find themselves in the world of Schmicago. Out with the older Rodgers and Hammerstein era and in with the Bob Fosse and Stephen Sondheim influences.

The first season was inspired by the lighter musicals of the 1940s & 1950s like “Oklahoma,” “Carousel,” “Guys and Dolls,” “The Sound of Music,” “The King & I” and more.

The second on the other hand tilts towards the darker and more adult ones of the 1960s & 1970s with obvious “Chicago,” “Cabaret,” “Sweet Charity,” “Hair,” and “Sweeney Todd” influences on display.

Returning cast includes the two leads alongside Ariana DeBose, Martin Short, Dove Cameron, Jaime Camil, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ann Harada, Jane Krakowski, and Aaron Tveit.

In addition, Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page join the cast for the new run which sees “Legally Blonde” helmer Robert Luketic take over as director and which kicks off on April 5th.
