Following word of its renewal the other day, some more details are out regarding the continuation and expansion of Amazon’s “The Terminal List” TV series.

Amazon Prime Video has confirmed the trade reports that the Chris Pratt-led show has been renewed for a second season, and that an untitled prequel series focusing on Taylor Kitsch’s fan-favorite Ben Edward will be produced.

Now, they’ve confirmed the second season won’t be jumping ahead (ala their “Reacher” series) and will be based on the second book in Carr’s James Reece series “True Believer”. That book series contains six novels thus far.

In that book, former Navy SEAL James Reece has fled the United States for the wilds of Mozambique. When a string of horrific terrorist attacks plagues the Western world, the CIA tracks him down and recruits him, reluctantly, to travel the globe and target terrorist leaders all whilst unravelling a geopolitical conspiracy.

Meanwhile, they’ve also confirmed what other Carr-created characters will be popping up in the prequel series which is being co-created by Carr and creator-showrunner David DiGilio.

Kitsch’s Ben will lead the proceedings with Pratt’s James Reece also appearing. As previously reported, the character of South African former SEAL Raife Hastings will be a key one and should appear in both the main show’s second season and the prequel spin-off.

Also popping up in the prequel are Mohammed Farooq and Ernest ‘Boozer’ Vickers, the latter played in the first season by series producer Jared Shaw.

The prequel is dubbed an elevated espionage thriller that takes viewers on Edwards’ journey from Navy SEAL to CIA paramilitary operator – and will explore the darker side of warfare and the human cost that comes with it.

In addition to starring in the prequel series, Kitsch will serve as executive producer alongside Pratt, Carr, Shaw, Antoine Fuqua and Max Adams.
