The good news is that purchases of the ID.4 come with three years of free 30-minute charging sessions at Electrify America. The offer applies to buyers of the 2021, 2022, and 2023 ID.4 models. To take advantage of the free charging offer, users will need to download the Electrify America app and create an account. They will also need to make a $10 deposit for idle fees and charging beyond 30 minutes. If users exceed the free charging time limit, they will be charged at the current Electrify America plan rates.

To avail the offer, start by downloading the Electrify America app. After creating an account, the next step is selecting ‘Set Up Public Charging.’ Next, tap on ‘Choose Membership Plan‘ and go to ‘Premium Offers.’ Those with an existing Electrify America account can select ‘Premium Offers‘ and choose ‘I have an enrollment code‘ in the account tab. Now, enter the six-digit enrollment code shared by the Volkswagen dealer and select the ID.4 charging plan.

Accept ‘Plan Disclosure‘ and tap on ‘Select this plan.’ Now, enter a payment method and set up auto-reload to cover charging after 30 minutes and any idle fees. ID.4 owners should note that this offer is non-transferable and doesn’t apply to those who use their Volkswagen for ride-sharing. According to Volkswagen, the ID.4 can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in 30-36 minutes using a DC public fast charger.

Apart from charging at Electrify America public chargers, Volkswagen ID.4 owners can also purchase the HomeStation, also made by Electrify America. The advantage of a HomeStation is that ID.4 owners can use the same app to manage home and public charging at Electrify America. The Level 2 HomeStation charger can charge the ID.4 overnight, with a full charge taking between 7.5 and 11.5 hours.

The HomeStation is a smart charger that lets users schedule, start, and stop charging sessions from the app. It is compatible with standard 240V outlets found in homes, but users will need to have the charger installed by a qualified electrician. ID.4 users can contact Qmerit to have the charger installed at an additional cost. The charger comes with a 24-foot cable and lets users schedule off-peak charging to save on costs. It’s priced at $649, and unlike Electrify America’s public chargers, Volkswagen ID.4 users will have to pay full price for the HomeStation.
