Cindy Williams, who co-starred with Penny Marshall in the iconic sitcom “Laverne & Shirley,” has died at the age of 75. Her family revealed that the actress, now 75, died Wednesday after a brief illness.

Williams played Shirley Feeney opposite Marshall’s Laverne DeFazio in ABC’s “Happy Days” spin-off. The midcentury-set sitcom followed a pair of lower-class workers at a Milwaukee Brewery was for two years the biggest show on TV – averaging a 31 rating. It ultimately aired more than 175 episodes before wrapping in 1983.

Williams began work in 1970 and never really stopped. The actress appeared in multiple films like “The Killing Kind” and shows like “Rom 222” and “The Funny Side” before she snagged roles in two major Oscar Best Picture nominees – George Lucas’ “American Graffiti” and Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Conversation”.

Other works included films like “Big Man on Campus,” “Meet Wally Sparks,” “Bingo,” and “Rude Awakening” along with shows like “Normal Life,” “Getting By,” “For Your Love” and “Strip Mall” along with guest spots in numerous well-known series in the 70s through to the 2000s.

In a statement from her children, Emily and Zak Hudson, relayed through a spokesperson they say: “The passing of our kind, hilarious mother, Cindy Williams, has brought us insurmountable sadness that could never truly be expressed. Knowing and loving her has been our joy and privilege. She was one of a kind, beautiful, generous and possessed a brilliant sense of humor and a glittering spirit that everyone loved.”
