Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz (“Inglourious Basterds,” “Django Unchained”) has been set to star in the action-comedy “Old Guy” which will be helmed by “Con Air,” “The Expendables 2” and “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” director Simon West.
Greg Johnson (“The Last Son”) pens the film in which Waltz will play an ageing contract killer named Terry Eubanks who still believes he is the best at what he does.
Stuck in a rut, he is thrilled when The Company puts him back in the field, only to learn he has to train Wihlborg – a Gen-Z prodigy assassin with an attitude.
The mismatched pair is asked to eliminate top members of a competing crime syndicate. During their mission, they uncover their employer’s true motive: removing the old guard in a full takeover.
What their bosses didn’t anticipate was that Terry’s years of experience coupled with the kid’s brilliance would create an unlikely bond between the two – enabling them to turn it all back on The Company.
Highland Film Group is co-financing and launching world sales on the project at Berlin’s European Film Market in a few weeks.
Jib Polhemus, Martin Brennan, Hal Sadoff and Norman Golightly will produce for Dark Castle Entertainment, and filming begins early 2023 in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Waltz recently shot the film “The Portable Door,” and will soon be seen in the Amazon Prime series “The Consultant”.
