Giancarlo Esposito has joined the all-star cast of Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis” film that is currently just over the halfway point of a three-month shoot in Atlanta and New York.
The film’s synopsis reads: “The fate of Rome haunts a modern world unable to solve its own social problems in this epic story of political ambition, genius, and dangerous love.”
Esposito joins a cast that includes Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Chloe Fineman, Kathryn Hunter, Dustin Hoffman, DB Sweeney, Talia Shire, Jason Schwartzman, Bailey Ives, Grace Vanderwaal, and James Remar.
Coppola wrote the script and is himself financing the just under $100 million budget for the movie, which is said to be on schedule.
“Breaking Bad” alum Esposito remains busy as ever. Recently he led the cast of Netflix’s heist drama series “Kaleidoscope,” appears in the third season of Epix’s “Godfather of Harlem,” has recurring roles on “The Mandalorian” and “The Boys,” and is currently working on the Netflix series “The Gentleman” and the Russo Brothers film “The Electric State”.
