Former “The Walking Dead” and “Southland” alum Michael Cudlitz has been set to play iconic DC villain Lex Luthor in the upcoming third season of The CW’s “Superman & Lois”.
EW broke the news with the actor subsequently confirming it. In the series, Lex is the visionary billionaire behind LexCorp. However, the criminal underworld knows who Lex truly is – a brutal psychopath who terrorizes anyone he crosses paths with.
By the time of the third season of “Superman and Lois,” Lex has been out of the public eye for years and has now re-emerged to correct a personal injustice. He’ll do so by enacting revenge on the two people he feels have wronged him – Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch).
Several weeks after the defeat of Ally Allston, The Kents are working at the Smallville Gazette together and enjoying small-town life. Lois goes on an undercover assignment which reveals a deadly and merciless foe that promises to change the Kent family forever.
Meanwhile, Jordan (Alex Garfin) discovers what a superhero identity really means, Jonathan (now played by Michael Bishop, replacing Jordan Elsass) searches for purpose beyond the football field, and General Samuel Lane (Dylan Walsh) reclaims his post at the Department of Defense.
Cudlitz marks the latest screen take on the Luthor character following several in recent years, including Jon Cryer in “Supergirl” and Titus Welliver in “Titans”.
