“Cyberpunk 2077” DLC Is CDPR’s Biggest

CD Projekt Red

CD Projekt Red have announced that ‘Phantom Liberty’, the upcoming expansion pack for its “Cyberpunk 2077” game, will have the biggest budget of any DLC made by the company to date.

The reveal reportedly came from the company’s investor relations manager in an article by Polish financial newspaper Parkiet (via Wccftech). They added that the studio was comfortable with the current state of the expansion’s development.

Phantom Liberty, the only planned DLC for the game, is dubbed “a spy-thriller expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 set in an all new district of Night City” and will star Idris Elba as Solomon Reed, an FIA Agent for the New United States of America.

He joins Keanu Reeves reprising his role of Johnny Silverhand, and Sasha Grey as the voice of the radio DJ Ash on the in-game station 89.7 Growl FM.

The next Cyberpunk game, currently going by the name “Project Orion,” will begin development at a new US-based studio called CD Projekt Red North America.

Originally set to be one of the biggest titles of the last console generation, the game’s launch ended up being a disaster and cautionary tale due to a host of technical problems resulting in a wave of refunds and the title being pulled.

It took a bunch of patches, and a successful animated Netflix series, to lead to resurgence of interest in the game which has reportedly sold over 20 million copies.
