Following their collaboration on 2021’s “Pig,” filmmaker Michael Sarnoski and actor Alex Wolff (“Old,” “Hereditary,” “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”) will re-team for “A Quiet Place: Day One” at Paramount Pictures.
A prequel spin-off to John Krasinski’s two horror features thus far in the “A Quiet Place” universe, the project is expected to set up a franchise that can expand over the next decade in a similar way to what “The Conjuring” has done for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Wolff, who will next be seen in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.” will join Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o and “Stranger Things” breakout Joseph Quinn in the film, which is expected to take place on the day the extraterrestrial creatures, who locate and kill by sound, lay waste to humanity.
Unlike the main films, which centers around one family, this is expected to offer a larger-scale look at events and follow numerous characters.
Sarnoski is writing and directing based on an original idea by Krasinski. Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller will produce and “A Quiet Place: Day One” will open in cinemas on March 8th 2024.
Neither Krasinski nor Emily Blunt are expected to appear in the new film, and the “Jack Ryan” series star is separately developing a third feature in the main franchise to arrive no earlier than 2025.
Both the previous “A Quiet Place” films have pulled in around $300 million each at the global box-office from cost-effective budgets.
