Despite indications to the contrary from the actor himself, it turns out “Fast and Furious” star Vin Diesel won’t be making an appearance in James Cameron’s “Avatar” franchise after all.
Talk of the “Riddick” star joining the sci-fi saga began in 2019 when he posted a video to Instagram with Cameron from the set of the “Avatar” sequels saying: “There is one person in Hollywood I’ve always wanted to work with and learn from, and so, all things come, I guess, to those that wait.”
Diesel then later seemed to confirm the news in interviews, telling MTV at the time: “I love James Cameron, and I love the series, and I think it’s safe to say that we will be working together.”
Well, that talk has ended today, with franchise producer Jon Landau confirming to Empire magazine that Diesel isn’t involved in the “Avatar” sequels at all: “Vin was a fan. He came in, visited the set one day to see what we were doing and people took that out of context.”
Whilst Diesel won’t be in the next one, actual actors set to appear in the next entry include Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement and David Thewlis, alongside the returnees from the second film.
Diesel’s not short on work either, with both “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and “Fast X” this Summer.
