The first trailer has been released for the Hulu series “History of the World Part II,” the follow-up to Mel Brooks’ iconic 1981 historical comedy “History of the World, Part I”, which is finally getting its long-awaited sequel and has set a release plan.

It has arrived, albeit in the form of an eight-part series. Like the original, it will essentially be a variety of sketches, with each at different points throughout the span of history. 96-year-old Brooks himself will appear alongside veteran comedians Wanda Sykes, Nick Kroll, and Ike Barinholtz who will star across all the episodes.

The massive guest cast includes Pamela Adlon, Tim Baltz, Zazie Beetz, Jillian Bell, Quinta Brunson, Dove Cameron, D’Arcy Carden, Ronny Chieng, Rob Corddry, Danny DeVito, David Duchovny, Hannah Einbinder, Jay Ellis, Josh Gad, Kimiko Glenn, Brandon Kyle Goodman, Jake Johnson, Richard Kind, Johnny Knoxville, Lauren Lapkus, Jenifer Lewis, Poppy Liu, Joe Lo Truglio, Jason Mantzoukas, Ken Marino, Jack McBrayer, Zahn McClarnon, Charles Melton, Kumail Nanjiani, Brock O’Hurn, Andrew Rannells, Emily Ratajkowski, Sam Richardson, Nick Robinson, Seth Rogen, Sarah Silverman, Timothy Simons, J.B. Smoove, David Wain, Taika Waititi, Reggie Watts and Tyler James Williams.

The original film featured Brooks in several different roles, with much of the film set around Ancient Rome. However, it had various interludes, including the famous MGM musical-style number about the Spanish Inquisition, a prehistoric sequence, and one-off sketches like “Hitler on Ice”.

The new one has a trailer showing multiple historical figures, including Jesus, Noah, Harriet Tubman, Sigmund Freud, Amelia Earhart, Abraham Lincoln, Alexander Graham Bell and Marco Polo.

Brooks wrote and directed the first film and serves as a writer and executive producer on the sequel series. The series is also produced by Kroll, Sykes, Barinholtz, David Stassen, Kevin Salter, David Greenbaum, and Christie Smith for Searchlight Television and 20th Television.

“History of the World Part II” will release two episodes per day and run over four consecutive days beginning March 6th.
