William H. Macy is set to join Owen Teague, Freya Allan and Peter Macon in filmmaker Wes Ball’s “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” for 20th Century Studios.
Ball is on board to direct the all-new chapter in the Apes saga, which will pick up many years after the conclusion of Matt Reeves’ “War for the Planet of the Apes” in 2017. This will continue the continuity that began with 2011’s “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” reboot.
Specifics of Macy’s role are under wraps. Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver and Patrick Aison penned the script, while Joe Hartwick Jr, Jaffa, Silver and Jason Reed are producing.
Macy most recently appeared in Showtime’s “Shameless” series. The various incarnations of the “Planet of the Apes” franchise have made more than $1.7 billion at the worldwide box office.
