What Happened To Stephen McGee After Season 2

Summer House alum Stephen McGee appeared on the show for the first two seasons. His life has really changed since his reality TV stint.

Stephen McGee appeared on Summer House for the first two seasons, but he has since moved on from his life as a reality TV star. During his time on the Bravo series, Stephen was fairly new to the group of friends. He became very close with twins Lauren and Ashley Wirkus, as well as Carl Radke. While he remained close with Lauren and Ashley until the end of his final season, he and Carl were not ready to mend their broken friendship.

During his first season, Stephen became a favorite among Bravo fans. They loved his carefree attitude towards some of his Summer House castmates, and his funny throwaway comments. However, viewers quickly turned on him after he spilled a secret that Carl Radke told him in confidence, while they were off-camera. Carl was understandably upset by the revelation, and didn’t understand why Stephen had to make his story public knowledge. Then, the Alabama native left his reality TV gig (and a few of his friends) behind.

Stephen Has Moved On From Summer House

According to Stephen‘s LinkedIn page, he is still working as an event director. He is currently freelancing, which he has been doing since 2010. In the past, Stephen has planned, designed, and executed several product launches, birthday parties, charity events, and weddings, while working side-by-side with some well-known celebrity event planners. Besides his career in event planning, the 31-year-old is also somewhat of an influencer, who posts at @stephenmcgee on Instagram. He’s posted sponsored content in the past.

Stephen is Still Friends With The Wirkus Twins

Stephen is reportedly is still close to Lauren and Ashley. He has visited them in Palm Springs in the past, since Ashley currently lives in San Diego. Stephen is also very close with former Vanderpump Rules cast members Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright, who were also part of the Bravo network. He even attended the couple’s wedding in 2019 in Kentucky. The former reality star is also working on becoming a better person.

In September 2020, Stephen announced on Facebook that he was one year sober. “Today, I am 1 year sober. I woke up to watch the sunrise in Montauk after the most challenging year of my life […] I am forever grateful to those of you who encouraged me and lifted me up to help me get to this beautiful place,” he wrote in an Instagram caption.

Since saying goodbye to Summer House in 2018, Stephen has been working to improve his career and personal life, and staying in touch with Lauren, Ashley and other Bravo alumni. Not only is he still freelancing as an event director, but he has been sober for years. Now that he is sober, as is Carl, maybe Stephen will return to the Bravo show, where he and Carl might be able to repair their relationship, as sober buddies, on an upcoming season.
