Netflix has premiered the official trailer for “Your Place or Mine,” a throwback 1990s/early 2000s rom-com starring Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher and hailing from writer Aline Brosh McKenna (“27 Dresses,” “The Devil Wears Prada,” “Crazy Ex-Girlfiend”) making her directorial debut.
Debbie and Peter are best friends and total opposites. Meeting as part of a one-night stand twenty years before, the pair are now strictly platonic friends. She’s a single mother who craves routine with her son Jack (Wesley Kimmel) in Los Angeles. He thrives on his single life as a marketing executive in the always-changing New York.
When they decide to swap houses and lives for a week, they discover what they think they want might not be what they really need. Debbie soon sparks a connection with a handsome stranger (Jesse Williams), and the friends come to realise there’s a foundation between them for something more.
Zoe Chao, Tig Notaro, Griffin Matthews, Rachel Bloom, Shiri Appleby, Vella Lovell and Steve Zahn co-star in the film, which is produced by Witherspoon, Brosh McKenna, Lauren Neustadter, Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan.
Witherspoon has dubbed the project a “love letter to single moms everywhere. Even if your life didn’t perfectly work out the way you envisioned, there’s hope, and there’s joy, and love can still be found.”
“Your Place or Mine” launches globally on Netflix on February 10th, just in time for Valentine’s Day for those opting to stay at home.
