“Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies” Series Trailer

Paramount+

After a brief logo tease the other week, Paramount+ has premiered the first trailer for “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies,” a musical comedy series that serves as a prequel to the iconic 1978 movie musical adaptation “Grease” starring Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta.

The series will begin in 1954, four years before Danny and Sandy had their ‘summer nights’ together, and the T-Birds and Pink Ladies reigned supreme at Rydell High.

In the series, four fed-up and misfit high school outcasts band together to form the first high school clique – a girl gang who “spark a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever”.

Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Ari Notartomaso, Tricia Fukuhara, Shanel Bailey, Madison Thompson, Johnathan Nieves, Jason Schmidt, Maxwell Whittington-Cooper and Jackie Hoffman star in the series that, like the film, will be a musical with new original music written and executive produced by Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer Justin Tranter.

“Atypical” alum Annabel Oakes wrote, executive produces and serves as showrunner on the series. Alethea Jones, Adam Fishbach and Marty Bowen also serve as executive producers, with Jones directing the pilot.

This marks the first of numerous TV series adaptations on the way of some of the studio’s most famous films, with small-screen takes on “Fatal Attraction,” “Flashdance,” “Love Story,” “The Parallax View” and “The Italian Job” coming.

“Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies” is slated to premiere on the Paramount+ service on April 6th.
