Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio are reprising their Marvel Netflix roles for the upcoming “Daredevil: Born Again” series, which gives proper screen time to the characters who’ve been recently reintroduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The project has also raised the question of whether we’ll see any of the other Marvel Netflix characters in the MCU. There have been rumors that Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones and Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle/The Punisher could make an appearance in the new “Daredevil” series.

That leaves a big question mark regarding Mike Colter’s Luke Cage. Sadly, whilst speaking to recently, it seems he’s just as in the dark as the rest of us regarding the fate of his character whom he portrayed across two seasons of “Luke Cage,” “The Defenders” mini-series, and guest appearances on “Jessica Jones”.

Colter tells the outlet he hasn’t gotten the call yet. And even if he did, he isn’t sure he would want to return as that role is something he has moved on from:

“I just try to stay in reasonable shape just because, but I don’t think about Luke Cage opportunities. It’s one of those things where it’s in the rearview mirror at this point. If somehow I get a call, my dance card is kind of full.

But if I get a call, something happens, great. I had a good time. I’m happy, more than happy, to let someone else take on that mantle or that role. That character’s living on for a long time.

Fans are going to have that character in one way, shape, or form for the rest of their lives, and I’m happy to have been a part of that for those guys.”

So far, Marvel has yet to recast any of the Netflix characters even as some of the actors from those shows have shown up in other Marvel projects, including Colter’s former co-stars Mahershala Ali and Alfre Woodard. Colter himself is busy working on the highly regarded “Evil” series on the Paramount+ service.

The talk comes as “Daredevil: Born Again” is gearing up to start production, with shooting kicking off next month and running throughout the rest of the year ahead of arrival on Disney+ in 2024.
