The upcoming movie revival of MTV’s “Teen Wolf” series sees the return of many of the series’ stars six years after the show’s sixth and final season went off the air.

In the film, Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) will have to gather his old friends along with new allies to face what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy in the show’s history. The film also promises the return of “Banshees, Werecoyotes, Hellhounds, Kitsunes, and every other shapeshifter in the night”.

Posey, Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed, Holland Roden, Colton Haynes, Shelly Hennig, Dylan Sprayberry, JR Bourne, Melissa Ponzio, Khylin Rhambo, Ian Bohen, Orny Adams, Seth Gilliam, Ryan Kelley, and Linden Ashby all return with the major absentees being Arden Cho and most famously Dylan O’Brien who won’t be reprising his career-making Stiles Stilinski role.

Speaking about the film ahead of its release, show creator Jeff Davis tells SFX Magazine (via ComicBookResources) that the upcoming film is “basically season seven all in one movie” as the feature fits in the entire plot that was originally planned for a seventh season:

“[It’s] a colossal undertaking. The first cut was three hours long. Part of that is you have so many characters to service. By the end of writing the movie, I kind of realized, ‘Oh my god. This is basically season seven all in one movie.’

We packed a lot into this movie. It was trying to give the fans big moments, tear-jerking moments and funny moments while giving them throwbacks to what the show was, but also a few new things like Vince Mattis, who plays Eli, Derek Hale’s son.”

“Teen Wolf: The Movie” will arrive on Paramount+ on January 26th, the same night the service will debut Davis’ new show “Wolf Pack” starring Sarah Michelle Gellar.
