CBS has announced that it has renewed its Jerry Bruckheimer-produced, Northern California-set firefighter drama “Fire Country” for a second season.
The series stars Max Thieriot as a young convict seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence by joining a prison release firefighting program where he and other inmates are partnered with elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires across the region.
Billy Burke, Kevin Alejandro, Diane Farr, Stephanie Arcila, Jordan Calloway and Jules Latimer co-star. Thieriot famously pulled double duty filming both this and his regular role on “SEAL Team” with his character being killed off on the latter due in part to his “Fire Country” commitments.
The first season debuted October 7th and has averaged 8 million viewers per episode, the most-watched new series of the season on broadcast TV. When streaming across all platforms is added in, that rises to 10 million.
