On Day One, Kate (Number 11) joined the competition alongside child star Jamie Lynn Spears, former Olympian Gus Kenworthy, celebrity Dr. Drew, and more. When tasked with jumping out of a helicopter headfirst, Kate hesitated in her freefall. While initial medical evaluation suggested a broken neck, the TV personality ultimately suffered a “hurt locker” (military slang for deep pain/discomfort). On the Special Forces series premiere, she was medically ejected from the game.

Kate is a television personality who is best known for her appearance on the reality TV show, Jon & Kate Plus 8, which documented the lives of her and then-husband Jon Gosselin, as they raised their eight children. 47-year-old Kate was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew up in the nearby suburb of Reading. She studied nursing at Reading Area Community College before starting a career as a labor and delivery nurse.
