Lionsgate has premiered a final official trailer for the action thriller “Plane” which sees action film thriller regular Gerard Butler teaming up with “Luke Cage,” “The Good Wife” and “Evil” alum Mike Colter.
“Den of Thieves” and “Olympus Has Fallen” star Butler plays pilot Brodie Torrance who saves his passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island – only to find that surviving the landing was just the beginning.
When most of the passengers are taken hostage by dangerous rebels, the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare (Colter), an accused murderer who was being transported by the FBI.
In order to rescue the passengers, Torrance will need Gaspare’s help, and will learn there’s more to Gaspare than meets the eye.
Tony Goldwyn plays a former Special Forces officer who leads the rescue effort, Daniella Pineda plays the head flight attendant, whilst Yoson An, Paul Ben-Victor, Remi Adeleke, Joey Slotnick, Evan Dane Taylor, Claro de los Reyes and Quinn McPherson co-star.
The Puerto Rico-shot film, which saw the rights volleyball between Universal, Lionsgate and Solstice before ending up at Lionsgate, is directed by Jean-François Richet (“Mesrine”).
The screenplay was co-written by Charles Cumming, JP Davis, and Matt Cook. “Plane” was originally slated to open late January but was moved up and will now arrive next with the film opening in cinemas exclusively on January 13th.
