Paramount has announced that the fifth season of Taylor Sheridan’s mega-rating TV series “Yellowstone” is taking a break – for several months.

The new run aired its eighth episode tonight, with Jamie (Wes Bentley) declaring war on his governor-dad John Dutton (Kevin Costner). How that war will play out, we’re not going to know until the Summer.

Paramount is not yet offering a date for the launch of the season’s remaining six episodes, only confirming that the new run will get a mid-year premiere.

To help ease the pain, they’ve released a trailer promoting the new episodes, but there’s no new footage because the episodes are still very much in production, which will continue into this year. Costner previously indicated he’ll restart filming his multipart western epic “Horizon” in the spring, which is likely when his filming commitments to the fifth season of “Yellowstone” are completed.

The fifth season so far has been breaking records for the network and streamer. The season premiere pulled in more than 12 million viewers in Live+Same Day, was up 52% in adults 18-34 from the fourth season.

The series has also spawned two prequels – “1883” and “1923” – which have shattered records at Paramount Network and on the Paramount+ service.

Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Forrie Smith, Denim Richards, Ian Bohen, Finn Little, Ryan Bingham, Gil Birmingham, Mo Brings Plenty, Wendy Moniz, Jen Landon and Kathryn Kelly star along with Josh Lucas, Jacki Weaver, Kylie Rogers, Kyle Red Silverstein, Kai Caster, Lainey Wilson, Lilli Kay, and Dawn Olivieri also star.
