As suggested by its name and appearance, Snover is a Grass- and Ice-type pocket monster in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that enjoys the frigid climate of North Paldea. After reaching a certain level requirement, this Frost Tree Pokémon evolves into Abomasnow, a high HP and superior SpDef considered by several in the community to be in the top-twenty list of best Ice-type pocket monsters for combat. When caught, Snover drops Snover Berries, an inedible crafting resource used to make Technical Machines that include the Icy Wind TM034 and Snowscape TM052. Both of these TMs can be given to Snover and Abomasnow as a means to teach them new Moves.
As noted above, Snover loves the cold and lives in the snowy peaks and valleys of the Glaseado Mountain region in northern Paldea of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. More specifically, this Frost Tree Pokémon can be found throughout all of Glaseado Mountain, except for the ridges south and southeast of the Glaseado Gym. While Snover’s in-game description does not mention that it lives near cities or towns, the game does state that it finds interest in investigating the footsteps of humans in the snow.
Snover’s Location in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
In other words, it is very likely that Trainers will be able to encounter a Wild Snover by exploring the areas outside of settlements like Montenevera or the North Province (Area Three) Pokécenter. YouTuber RandomRam has demonstrated via gameplay footage that players can easily find Snover by investigating the snowy hills directly beside the Glaseado Mountain Pokécenter. To catch Snover, players can use a Quick or Ultra Ball in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, or they can choose to weaken the Frost Tree pocket monster in battle. Snover is resistant to Water-, Grass-, Electric-, and Ground-type Moves; however, Trainers can easily subdue this creature using Fire-type Movesets.
Trainers are encouraged to catch multiple Snovers in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet if they have the time. As mentioned earlier, the Grass- and Ice-type pocket monster can drop Snover Berries, which can be used to make Icy Wind and Snowscape. Icy Wind is an excellent way to deal damage and reduce an opponent’s Speed, while Snowscape can create a snowstorm in combat to bolster the Defense of Ice-type Pokémon. To evolve Snover into Abomasnow in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers must level Snover to Level 40. This evolution does have any time-of-day requirements, like Yungoos in Pokémon Scarlet or Violet, nor does it mandate for players to be within the snowy Glaseado Mountain region for the evolution to occur.
