Vin Diesel has confirmed that the first trailer for “Fast X,” the tenth instalment in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, will arrive in “less than two months,” which would suggest an early February launch.
As that’s just in time for the Superbowl on February 12th, the release window is being seen as more than just a mere coincidence. The last few films in the series have all had major Superbowl spots, so it would not be surprising.
In the Instagram posting, Diesel also showed off a photo from the set of himself hugging actress Jordana Brewster who plays his onscreen sister.
Louis Leterrier helms the feature, stepping in for Justin Lin who infamously exited one week into filming but remains onboard as a writer/producer.
The project serves as the first of a two-part film closing out the main franchise and is said to sport a truly eye-watering production budget of around $340 million – the most expensive non-Disney film ever and 70% larger than that of “F9”.
Returnees include Diesel, Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, John Cena, Charlize Theron, Cardi B, Helen Mirren, Michael Rooker and Scott Eastwood.
They are joined by Jason Momoa, Daniela Melchior, Brie Larson, Rita Moreno and Alan Ritchson in the new outing, with Momoa playing a flamboyant villain.
Filming on “Fast X” took place across London, Rome, Turin, Lisbon, and Los Angeles, and more recently, there’s been rumors that Gal Gadot will reprise her role of Gisele Yashar in the film in a cameo. “Fast X” will hit cinemas on May 19th 2023.
