Love Island season 9 is coming to fans at the beginning of the New Year, marking only the second winter season of the show with the first coming in 2020. While fans get ready for the hot new bombshells to enter the villa, many of the couples fans fell in love with early on in the series have gone through big changes in their lives from major break-ups to lavish weddings and welcoming children into the world.
The season 2 couples have caused headlines from their hookups and antics on and off the show, but after seven years it is obvious the entire cast has experienced love and loss.
Cara & Nathan – Still Together
Nathan and Cara coupled up on day one and left the villa as not only winners of the show but with the love of their lives. Since being on the show, Nathan and Cara have got married and are raising their two kids, according to Cara’s Instagram.
But that isn’t all the couple has been up to since leaving the show. Cara co-owns an embroidery company, Embroidery By FJ, which produces personalized clothing for children, and golf-lover Nathan is an ambassador for Callaway Golf Europe (per Instagram). As one of the winning couples of Love Island,Cara and Nathan prove that true love can be found anywhere, even on a reality television show.
Alex & Olivia – Still Together
Season 2 of Love Island has kept a special place in fans’ hearts partially because the top two couples who leave the villa are not only together but have kids. Alex and Olivia are married and welcomed a son in 2022, and they are loving life as parents, according to Alex’s Instagram.
Alex and Olivia have been sharing their lives on their social media, and now baby Abel as he grows up, the pair work as bloggers and pursues passion projects that the show has allowed them to follow, like Olivia having horses and riding, as shown on her Instagram.
Kady & Scott – No Longer Together
As reported by Captial FM, Kady and Scott, who left the villa in third place, moved in together after their time in the villa but broke up over the summer of 2017. They reconciled only to split once again in December 2017 for the final time. Kady cited that the break-up was a difference in lifestyle and where the pair were in their lives, and the non-stop arguing was too much.
According to her Instagram, Kady is now single and living the life of an influencer, traveling the world and modeling for various clothing brands. According to his Instagram, Scott is also single and loving his role as uncle to his brother’s two children while he pursues a career as a presenter.
Katie & Adam M – No Longer Together
Katie and Adam M. had creative ways of expressing their love for one another while living in the villa, which contributed to memes that sum up life on Love Island. But the pair also found creative ways to describe why they broke up with one another, according to Metro UK, and were the first pair from season two to call it quits.
Since then, Katie welcomed a baby girl in 2022, per her Instagram, and was engaged in 2021, according to Metro UK. Sadly, the pair broke up six months after the birth of her daughter, according to The Mirror. According to Adam’s Instagram, he is also single, focused on his career as a pro wrestler, and has no children.
Emma & Terry – No Longer Together
Emma and Terry became one of the most infamous couples in the villa as their hookup was broadcast on the show for everyone at home to see. And while it seemed like the duo had found everlasting love, Capital FM reported that the couple split after eight months of being together but remained friends.
Emma is now the proud mom of a four-year-old boy, who she often gushes about on her Instagram, and is single. Terry is also a parent to a daughter whom he and fiancée Danielle Purdy welcomed in 2021, according to Danielle’s Instagram.
Lauren & Adam – No Longer Together
Lauren and Adam were a match made in heaven in the villa but shortly after their elimination, the pair called it quits. Even though there are some things about Love Island that are fake according to the cast, what is real is Lauren’s nuptials. The Sun UK reported that Lauren was set to be married in May 2022 in Rome. According to Lauren’s Instagram the wedding was a lavish affair spanning several days in Italy that included Lauren in several designer outfits.
Adam has also found love with his fiancée Megan, and are expecting their first child together (per Heat World). Even though the pair didn’t find love together they seem to have found their happily ever after separately.
Rachel & Rykard – No Longer Together
Rachel and Rykard had one of the sweetest moments in Love Island history when Rykard said he wouldn’t continue with the show without Rachel, and after the villa the pair had a romance that lasted a year and a half, which in terms of the show is a lifetime, but as The Mirror reported they called it quits.
According to his Instagram, Rykard is single and focused on his career as an Aesthetic Practitioner and being the director of Rejuvenation Clinic in the UK. Rachel is now living in Dubai and according to her Instagram has been in a relationship for over a year and is enjoying her new lifestyle.
Tom & Sophie – No Longer Together
While some fans are still figuring out which Love Island season 8 couples are still together and which aren’t one couple that didn’t make it long past the villa was Tom and Sophie. Initially, it seemed their relationship was over when Tom quit the show after his ex Emma showed up but after a brief date with Katie, Sophie walked out to be with Tom. As reported by Digital Spy the pair had a messy break-up with both accusing the other of cheating, leaving no hope for reconciliation.
According to his Instagram, Tom is single and working on his career as a lifestyle coach. As reported by The Mirror UK Sophie found love in 2018 with her boyfriend Aaron, but just a few weeks after the pair got together Sophie tragically died and Aaron took his own life a few weeks later.
Tom & Malin – No Longer Together
Even though they never coupled up on the show, the Love Island villa mates gave romance a shot, according to Metro UK. Tom noted that their pairing was casual and, ultimately, their love was not meant to be.
Tom dated Married At First Sight AUS star Tamara Joy until Covid lockdowns kept the pair apart in 2021, according to Heat World. Yahoo! Sports reported that Malin split from her boyfriend Jared shortly after giving birth to her daughter and is now single and co-parenting.
