Nothing spells Christmas like a home invasion. Universal Pictures has used the holiday to reveal the second trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s new film “Knock at the Cabin”.

While vacationing at a remote New Hampshire cabin, a young girl (Kristen Cui) and her two dads are taken hostage by four armed strangers who demand that the family make an unthinkable choice to avert the apocalypse – they have to choose who among the three of them can be sacrificed. No one is allowed to leave until a decision is made.

With limited access to the outside world, the family must decide what they believe before all is lost. Shyamalan directs and co-wrote the script with Steve Desmond & Michael Sherman based on Paul Tremblay’s 2018 bestselling novel “The Cabin at the End of the World”.

Jonathan Groff (“Mindhunter”) and Ben Aldridge (“Pennyworth”) play the two fathers, whilst Dave Bautista (“Guardians of the Galaxy”), Nikki Amuka-Bird (“Old”), Abby Quinn (“Little Women”) and Rupert Grint (“Servant”) play the four antagonists.

The project marks the second of a two-film deal Shyamalan did with Universal, the first being last year’s “Old”. The filmmaker is continuing a revival of his filmmaking career which began with the low-budget “The Visit” in 2015 and led to “Split” and “Glass” in 2016 and 2019 respectively.

Shyamalan, Marc Bienstock and Ashwin Rajan produce. “Knock at the Cabin” has been rated R, Shyamalan’s first to snag that rating since “The Happening,” and opens in cinemas on February 3rd.
