“Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan has multiple shows on the air right now outside of that series.
There’s the one-off “1883,” the Stallone-led “Tulsa King” which could get a second season, “Mayor of Kingstown” which will shortly release its second season, and more recently, the just launched “1923” which is a confirmed two-season series.
Sheridan also has several other projects on the way, including “6666” and “1883: The Bass Reeves Story” both in development, and the Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldana-led “Lioness” which has already been shot and is in post-production.
It turns out Sheridan has another series on the way – one that he says he has shot secretly and enlisted the help of some big movie stars to do it.
Considering he managed to land Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as the leads in “1923,” not to mention the Tom Hanks cameo in “1883,” it could literally be anyone. He told Deadline this week:
“I don’t want to spoil it because I’ve got a show that no one knows much about that I’ve almost wrapped shooting the whole thing. It’s got probably four of the biggest movie stars alive in it, and we’ve kept it quiet.”
How has it been kept quiet? One option is he’s referring to “Lioness,” but the show isn’t secret and has been announced and reported on for months – along with only really sporting two well-known names in Kidman and Saldana. If not that, it’s frankly anyone’s guess.
Sheridan also revealed that at one point “Yellowstone” was almost an HBO show with Robert Redford in the Costner role. At the time, the network turned down his pilot script, and once he got it back, he took it to Paramount Network who gave the show a chance – turning it into one of the biggest shows on television.
Both “1923” and “Yellowstone” are currently airing.
