Mary Elizabeth Winstead will reportedly play Twi’tek pilot and Rebel commander Hera Syndulla in the upcoming “Star Wars: Ashoka” series from Lucasfilm and Disney+ according to Bespin Bulletin.
Winstead’s casting in the series was revealed back in January, but details of her character have been under wraps – until now. The Syndulla character was briefly spotted in a teaser at Star Wars Celebration back in May in a clip that wasn’t released online.
She joins several other “Star Wars: Rebels” characters getting real-world incarnations for the series, including Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn, along with others that have already made the jump like the show’s leading lady Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano and Nastasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren.
Hayden Christensen, Ivanna Sakhno, Lars Mikkelsen, and Ray Stevenson also star in the series, which Dave Filoni is writing and directing multiple episodes of.
The series is expected to premiere late in 2023 on the service, well after the third season of “The Mandalorian”, which arrives on March 1st.
