Movie ticket retailer Fandango has revealed the results of their annual ‘Most Anticipated Movies’ survey for next year, with James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” at the top of the list according to over 5,000 moviegoers who voted in the poll.

Understandably most of the films that have topped the poll are all films that have already had trailers released for them at some point, with the exception of “The Hunger Games” prequel and the “Aquaman” sequel both arriving towards the end of 2023.

Amongst the stats released, around 97% will attend the theater more often next year, 84% plan to see six or more movies on the big screen, and 72% would like to see more movies in IMAX and other premium large-screen formats.

The top ten must-see films on the list are as follows:

1. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 5)
2. Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse (June 2)
3. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (Feb. 17)
4. John Wick: Chapter 4 (March 24)
5. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (June 30)
6. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (Dec. 25)
7. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (July 14)
8. The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (Nov. 17)
9. Creed III (March 3)
10. The Super Mario Bros. Movie (April 7)

Only “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” isn’t part of an established film series, even as the film comes with inbuilt name recognition and familiarity.

In other sections of the poll “Magic Mike’s Last Dance” topped the list of most want-to-see comedy, the “Salem’s Lot” remake topped the most anticipated horror film list, whilst “The Little Mermaid” topped the most anticipated villain for Melissa McCarthy’s Ursula and most anticipated new performance for Halle Bailey’s Ariel.

Other titles making specific category lists include “Cocaine Bear,” “Elemental,” and “M3gan”. More than 100 new movies are set for release in 2023, including the highest number of blockbusters since 2019.
