Having secured “Minari” director Lee Isaac Chung to helm it, Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment aren’t taking their time with the plan sequel to the classic 1996 feature “Twister”.

The studio has announced that “Twisters” is set to be unleashed in cinemas on July 19th 2024. Warner Bros. is co-financing the project with Frank Marshall set to produce.

Chung will direct from a screenplay by Mark L. Smith (“The Revenant”), which follows-up the original that grossed nearly $500 million at the global box-office.

Meanwhile, several films have set streaming launches. The still-in-cinemas action hit “Violent Night” has surprisingly shown up on PVOD platforms today and can now be viewed at home.

Next, HBO Max has set a January 3rd launch on HBO Max of the dark comedy thriller “The Menu” starring Ralph Fiennes, Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult.

On the TV front, Cinedigm has acquired all North American rights to the four-part docuseries “RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop” with plans to launch the six years in the making doco on its streaming service Screambox and digital platforms early next year.

HBO Max has also set a January 12th premiere date for “Velma,” the modern, adult-oriented animated “Scooby-Doo” spin-off series that hails from Mindy Kaling and tells the origin story of unsung and underappreciated Velma Dinkley (Kaling).

FX has set a February 22nd premiere date for the sixth and final season of its 1980s rock cocaine drama “Snowfall”.

Finally, Head of Television at Amazon Studios Vernon Sanders has confirmed that the second seasons of “Reacher” and “Invincible” will debut on Amazon Prime sometime next year.
