It’s been thirteen years since Avatar was released and fans have been eagerly waiting for any follow-up film. Avatar: The Way of Water has promised to give fans their wish and reignite their love of Pandora. James Cameron has promised even more adventure, but is it worthy of the hype?
Here’s how you can watch Avatar: The Way of Water for free and why you should.

What is Avatar?
Avatar (2009) is about Jake, who is paraplegic, and replaces his twin on the Na’vi inhabited Pandora for a corporate mission. After the natives accept him as one of their own, he must decide where his loyalties lie.
Avatar: The Way of Water is set to follow the events of the 2009 film Avatar. Jake Sully and Ney’tiri have formed a family and are doing everything to stay together. However, they must leave their home and explore the regions of Pandora. When an ancient threat resurfaces, Jake must fight a difficult war against the humans.
Avatar is one of the world’s most famous franchises with the notable blue aliens which make an appearance in many parodies and memes all over the internet.
Making of
According to early numbers, James Cameron spent a whopping $250 million during the production of the new addition to the Avatar franchise. Cameron is determined to make $2 billion following Avatar: The Way of Water’s release. According to an interview Cameron did with GQ Magazine he mentioned the film was “Very fucking [expensive].”
Variety reported, “Cameron apparently told Disney and 20th Century Studios executives that his sequel budget was so high it represented “the worst business case in movie history.” According to the director’s estimates, “you have to be the third or fourth highest-grossing film in history. That’s your threshold. That’s your break even.””
In terms of the highest-grossing films, Cameron’s Avatar (2009) is still at the top with a $2.9 billion profit. Avatar: The Way of Water would have to reach at least $2 billion profit, and right now . . . James Cameron isn’t reaching his initial targets.
According to Digital Spy, Avatar 2 has grossed a global total of “$496,912,042”. “Avatar: The Way of Water‘s opening weekend already makes it the 10th highest-grossing movie of the year, and it could well yet be challenging the top five of 2022 by the time Christmas rolls around.”
Reviews
Currently, Avatar: The Way of Water is sitting at a score of 78% on Rotten Tomatoes and an audience score of 93%. The critics’ consensus on Rotten Tomatoes is “Narratively, it might be fairly standard stuff — but visually speaking, Avatar: The Way of Water is a stunningly immersive experience.”
The Guardian had an opposite reaction with a rating of two stars out of five. “A lumbering, humourless, tech-driven damp squib of a movie, this long-awaited (or dreaded?) sequel to one of the highest grossing films of all time builds upon the mighty flaws of its predecessor, delivering a patience-testing fantasy dirge that is longer, uglier and (amazingly) even more clumsily scripted than its predecessor.”
It appears any review worthy of merit is when you go stream this new addition to the Avatar franchise yourself.
