Legendary Broadway veteran and multiple award winner Patti LuPone has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ “Agatha: Coven of Chaos” series on the Disney+ service.
The “WandaVision” spin-off sees Kathryn Hahn reprising her role of witch Agatha Harkness from that series, with Emma Caulfield Ford also returning as Dottie.
They will be joined by “Heartstopper” breakout Joe Locke as the male lead, Aubrey Plaza as a villain, and Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia and Sasheer Zamata in supporting roles.
LuPone’s role is under wraps though she’s rumored to be playing a witch. “WandaVision” creator Jac Schaeffer serves as writer and executive producer on the spinoff.
LuPone is no stranger to screen work with appearances in nearly two dozen films and across three dozen or so TV shows with memorable turns in “Penny Dreadful,” “American Horror Story,” “30 Rock,” “Oz,” “Heist,” “Witness,” “Driving Miss Daisy,” “Summer of Sam,” “1941” and more recently “Last Christmas” and “The School for Good and Evil”.
She has won three Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards and two Grammy Awards. She will next be seen in “Hereditary” and “Midsommar” director Ari Aster’s surrealist comedy horror “Beau Is Afraid”.
“Agatha: Coven of Chaos” is expected to premiere on the streaming service sometime in late 2023.
